AC MIRAGE IS GOOD BUT..

Assassins creed mirage is the 13th installment in the franchise that was advertised to be a return to the roots for the franchise. If you are looking for a direct copy and paste of old assassins creed games, this may not be the game for you. If the Ezio Trilogy of AC games and RPG Trilogy of AC games had a baby it would be AC Mirage with about 60/40 split toward the RPG titles. Depending on your taste that could be good or bad

Basim is the main character of this story and for those who loved Valhalla he will be a familiar face .  Basim as a protagonist is witty, charming and overall has a likable personality. In comparison to other AC protagonists he’s good, not the best, not the worst, just a solid character.

This is your typical AC story you are a street thief who gets caught up stealing and decides to join the assassins order

The games main story is about 15 - 20 hours which for some might be a deal breaker however for me it felt perfect, especially with this not being a full priced title.

The environment is gorgeous and I loved exploring  Baghdad. The Parkour is limited but more realistic, unlike the previous titles Mirage doesn’t allow you to just climb any surface/object freely. Instead you have to find cracks and other imperfections along walls in order to climb them.

The combat uses primarily R1. for attacks which overall feels awkward. You tap R1 for light attacks and hold R1 for heavy attacks and if i'm being honest that doesn't feel intuitive. The caveat to combat is that the game prioritizes stealth and stealth like combat. The game is relatively easy if you use more creative combat like throwing torches, knives, bombs, and whatever else you can get your hands on to defeat enemies. Trying to take on swarms of enemies at once will usually end badly. This game is truly an Assassins game and should be played as such, once I realized that I had a greater appreciation of the combat system.

One feature that was introduced in AC origins that is frequented here is the Eagle Eye. While the eagle is a cool feature I feel like its forced upon you as there is no real mini map so you rely HEAVILY on the eagle to mark enemies and points of interest , to the point where  sometimes it can be confusing to navigate.

The Verdict: Assassins Creed mirage is Good, nothing groundbreaking but not terrible either. If you are a fan of the older assassins creed games you’ll enjoy this return to form, however if you prefer the more recent RPG style of games you may want to skip this one.
